MARK BOURGUIGNON brings a unique perspective to the wealth management business. He has 26 years of experience as a research analyst, advisor and investor for individuals and institutional investors, including corporations, non-profits and employee pension plans.

His career has been dedicated to conducting investment research and implementing strategies designed to meet the distinct needs of his investors. Mark started Proprietor Wealth Management because he is passionate about helping individuals and families achieve their financial goals so they can spend less time worrying about money and more time pursuing their own life’s passions. 

Prior to founding Proprietor Wealth Management, Mark spent 12 years at Clearbridge Investments, a Legg Mason Company, where he was a Fund Manager for the Clearbridge Small Cap Value Fund. Mark also held positions as a Director and Senior Portfolio Analyst for the firm's all cap value, balanced income, and small cap strategies totaling more than $20 billion in assets under management. 

Previously, Mark served as the Director of Research for Option Advantage Partners L.P., which was the industry’s first private equity fund to provide institutional funding to entrepreneurs who wanted to tax-efficiently exercise their stock options. Mark led the fund’s research efforts on behalf of the General Partner and its investors. 

He began his career as an equity research analyst at the investment banking firms Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette and Thomas Weisel Partners. His primary responsibilities were conducting investment due diligence among publicly traded corporations and providing investment advisory services to institutional investors. 

Mark is a Limited Partner in a number of private investment partnerships spanning a diverse range of industries, including real estate, technology, and manufacturing. Through this experience, Mark has gained insight into the complex set of challenges faced by entrepreneurs and has become a trusted advisor to them. 

Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Marquette University. He was also a student of Pan-European Economics at The University of Antwerp, Belgium. His commitment to his investment philosophy is underscored by the fact that Mark invests his own capital in the same manner as his client's portfolios.
